He began learning piano and music theory at the age of seven with a local piano teacher. During his teenage years he continued his musical studies with various piano and music teachers, performing in local rock bands and experimental music groups. He began composing music using keyboard workstations, synthesizers, combining his intuitive approach with music notation. In 1995 he emigrated to Scotland to further his music studies and to learn the English language. He spent one year at the Perth Rock Music college. During that time he performed keyboards/piano with some local Scottish bands like the "Breakfast Club", "Soul Collective" and the popular samba band "Rhythm Wave" directed by composer & percussionist Ronald Goodman. |
His immense passion for classical music and the orchestra took him to Glasgow where in 1998 he was accepted at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He graduated in 2001 with a B.A. in Musical studies, composition and electro-acoustic music under composer John Maxwell Geddes and Alistair MacDonald.
Over the years his growing fascination for music combined with technology motivated him to discover the complex world of sequencers, samplers, virtual instruments and notation software. He began to incorporate these incredible tools in his music creations and productions. Max is very fond of world music and ethnic instruments from around the planet.
